Port Republic is a small, rural unincorporated community located at the crossroads of MD 2/MD 4, MD 264, MD 509, MD 765, and Parkers Creek Road in Calvert County, Maryland. It is approximately five miles south of Prince Frederick, the county seat of Calvert County. The annual Calvert County Jousting Tournament is held the last Saturday in August on the grounds of Christ Church, and was featured in a 2005 edition of ESPN's SportsCenter's "50 States in 50 Days" feature. The former College of Southern Maryland campus at Port Republic was relocated in 2005 to Prince Frederick.        There isn't too much to do in Port Republic, but what they do have, is worth coming to Port Republic for! Parkers Creek Natural Area has the largest contiguous tracts of forest in Calvert County. It progresses from dry, sandy upland woods to cool, moist ravines and forested wetlands. The ancient shell deposits from the Miocene Epoch, which deposit fossils on the beaches of Calvert County, create fertile soils in the inland ravines that support remarkable spring wildflower displays. Flowers such as American Golden Saxifrage and Two-leaf Miterwort , uncommon on the typically poor soils of the Coastal Plain, thrive in the rich, moist soils of these steeply sloped valleys. Eastern Fence Lizards  and other reptiles make their home in the dry, sandy uplands, as do some unusual plants. The creek meanders near the coast.
